An iineffable beauty awakens from her slumber, within his bosom.

The young man seems to be in a trance.
He is rich, for his widowed dad is rich. But his life has been a long saga of disappointments with, whatever he loved or craved for slipping inexplicably away from him. So much so, he is wary of desiring for something or of giving vent to his desire if ever he has one.He has turned into a recluse unto himself. Diffident, introvert, a bit of a sissy, pitying his piteous self.
But everything seems to have changed overnight, with the advent of this girl, this ebullient, effervescent girl, who evidently liked him. Him of all people, and how !
He is perplexed to find his surroundings suddenly acquire an inexplicable beauty. A beauty that he had not experienced any time until then.
He doesn’t know yet that he has yet another disappointment in store, to shove him once more into the gloom he is accustomed to.

Here is my attempt at translation of a beautiful lyric by Cinare from the 1964 movie, Pooja Phalam, directed sensitively, by B.N.Reddy into English. The song set to music by Saluri Rajeswara Rao, was sung beutifully by Ghantasala.

“How come this ineffable beauty , has awakened from slumber now ? It was not there yesterday.. it sure must have awakened within me, from its slumber.
How come, this sweet melody, this raaga I know not which, stretches its tendrils ahead ?
How come this ineffable beauty , has awakened from its slumber now ?
It was not there yesterday.. it sure must have awakened within me, from its slumber.

Each of these blossoms appears to me to be a bride.
Each of these flowers seems to burgeon with nectar.
Where have all these graces, all this glory, lain dormant all these days ?
How come this ineffable beauty , has awakened from its slumber now ?
It was not there yesterday.. it sure must have awakened within me, from its slumber.

The creek gushes at me sinuously, the shiny white bubbles, its laughter.
Even as phantom veenaas vibrate and serenade all around.
How come this ineffable beauty , has awakened from its slumber now ?
It was not there yesterday.. it sure must have awakened, within me,from a slumber.

Her veil with its golden edge, which covered her bosom, has slipped, Unconcerned she moves forward, this girl, I mean this cloud. She is beside herself with bliss as the sun tickles her with his crimson rays.
How come this ineffable beauty , has awakened from its slumber now ?
I did not find it there yesterday.. it sure must have awakened, within me, from a slumber”

Here is a YouTube video, in which you can find an enthusiast –from U.K. I gather –sing the song nicely to the accompaniment of the visuals from the movie.

You can find the Telugu lyric at this link. There is a mistake in the transcription. The word ‘Teli nurugula’ are wrongly mentioned as ‘Chelinurugula’
