Hindu wedding rituals .

Continuing with the description of wedding rituals by Sri Krishna Deva Raya in the Amuktamalyada, here is a simple and elegant poem about the tying of (The three knots) a sacred thread by the groom around the neck of the bride (Mangalya Dhaarana) .

Here is my attempt at its translation into English.
“As the Lord tied the sacred thread around the neck of the Lady, she shivered and got goose pimples .
And the couple adorned each other’s wrists with bracelets..”

Here is the Telugu original.
‘Galamuna-gattenu Hari, Man-
gala sootramu pulakal-ativa gaatramun-boduvan
Nelaayu-batiyun-garamua
nalavarichiri kankanambul-anyonambun.’
